- Floatant
- A substance that is applied to flies to make them float
and is reapplied when the fly becomes bogged with water or
is covered in fish slime. It is sold in various forms
such as pastes, crystals, and liquid sprays. Some
floatants are meant to be applied 24 hour in advance of use
and others can be applied immediately prior to use.
There are also some substitutes that can be used such as Scotch Guard or similar
water repelling
products.

- Fly Box:
- A Container that is used to carry and protect flies.
They come in various shapes, sizes, and qualities.
They are constructed of many materials including metal,
plastic, foam, and wood.

- Hackle:
- Feathers that are usually used to wrap around the shank
of a hook. More info.
- Head Cement:
- A liquid that is applied to the head of a fly or the
area where the thread is tied off at. For added
strength, it may be applied at other vital parts of the fly
such as the bases of wings or tails.
